Acqua di Parma, a brand that embodies Italian excellence and lifestyle in the world, is the promoter of A Great Futurist Evening by actor, playwright and Italian theater director Massimiliano Finazzer Flory.

This traveling performance piece will be presented in 9 cities across the United States. Acqua di Parma sponsors the events in Washington DC at the Italian Embassy on May 12th, as well as in New York on May 21st and Houston on June 3rd for the occasion of The Italian Republic Day.
On the evening of Wednesday, May 21 at 8:00pm, Lincoln Center brings Futurism to the stage with director and performer Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, original choreography by Michela Lucenti, interpretation by Sara Ippolito, costume design by Sartoria Brancato Milano, and music by Igor Stravinksy, Alfredo Casella, Francesco Cilea, and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

In this creative performance, Finazzer Flory gives a voice to major players of the Futurist Movement such as Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and Giovanni Papini. Massimiliano Finazzer Flory asks, “Why do we want to bring Futurism to the stage? Because it is part of our [Italian] history! Theatre is life. Life is movement. Movement is Futurism”. Finazzer Flory continues, “I am utterly grateful to have Marinetti and Papini’s words take a visual form, and performed live at the historic Lincoln Center and present it to the American public.”

In 2000, Massimiliano Finazzer Flory began his career in Venice directing a series of theatrical pieces dedicated to Greek mythology. In 2005, he participated as an actor at Piccolo Teatro Studio in Milan in the production of L’altro viaggio di Rainer Maria Rilke. During the same year, he brought to the stage In viaggio con Virgilio, l’Eneide, which he then toured around Italy. His work is a combination of philosophy, literature, art and music. Thanks to being an active player in Italian culture, Finazzer Flory won several awards like the Ambrogino d’Oro and Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary International. In 2009/2010 for the 100th anniversary of Futurism in Milan, Finazzer Flory promoted this occasion by traveling to many cities worldwide, such as New York, Tokyo and Tel Aviv sharing the Futurist Manifestos. In 2010, he also debuted at the Festival of the Two Worlds (Festival dei Due Mondi) in Spoleto, with the piece Il tempo di Gustav Mahler, dedicated to the bohemian composer. From reciting Alessandro Manzoni’s Promessi Sposi (The Betrothed) at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in January 2010, and in the occasion of celebrating the 150 years of the Unification of Italy, Finazzer Flory brought this piece to New York marking its first debut at Lincoln Center. Finazzer Flory embarked on an international tour that brought him to 21 countries in 4 continents. In 2012, Finazzer Flory returned to New York with a production of Pinocchio, which travelled to different cities in 20 states in the United States and for which he ultimately won the Lions Pinocchio di Collodi Award in 2013.
